Getting to Bali

Bali is one of the numerous islands of Indonesia, in South-East Asia. The best and almost the only way to get to Bali is by flight. The Denpasar-Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) is located in the Kuta area, in the south of Bali, with connections to several countries accross the world.

Local Transport

Bali is relatively small in size, but travelling around is not as easy as one would expect; public transport is not straightforward for non-locals, and traffic jams are common. There are tourist-class bus services such as Kura-Kura where you can buy tickets online.

Taxis are a good option. The largest company is Bluebird Taxi which has a desk outside the arrivals section at Denpasar-Ngurah Rai International Airport, and has an app MyBluebird Taxi. There are other options such as Grab, a popular ride-hailing service in Asia.

Entry requirements

International visitors need a passport and a visa to fly to Bali, which belongs to Indonesia.

More information at:

All passengers and aircraft personnel traveling from abroad are now required to fill in a Custom Declaration (and in some cases health declaration) prior to entry into Indonesia. https://ecd.beacukai.go.id/

QR codes are also available at the airport to access the websites (it is best to complete it before you depart). Once the forms are completed, you will be issued a QR code that needs to be shown to a custom officer before you can enter the country.
